Garmisch, Germany, February, 1956: American figure skater Carol Heiss shows the form that enabled her to win the first of five consecutive world championships in the 1956 competition at Garmisch. Heiss, the silver medalist in the 1956 Olympics, went on to capture the gold in the 1960 games at Squaw Valley.
